I went to that Turkey. You know, the one you see on the TV

the ceiling of the blue Mosque, Istanbul

At the grand bazaar

It’s a great place- especially if you enjoy people trying to sell you carpets. The weather was a bit ropey in Istanbul for the first few days so I hot-fotted (10 hour bus ride) it across to Cappadoccia where I saw all manner of weird houses carved into volcanic rock formations.

Me and some rocks

Not only that but I made a clay vase and saw a camel. Who needs New York?

Life is good in Manchester

This is the reason I haven’t been updating much.

Actually the World Cup wasn’t bad either- here’s me winning it.

I suppose you can't really say that the weather in England has been 100% crap, because there are probably some people who like being rained on. We seemed to have turned a corner now though.
Thank frig.

Last weekend I went to Brighton, drank out in the sun on the seafront, burnt the shiny bit at the top of my head, and generally had a cracking time.
Maybe I'll even move there after I get back from China, I'll be a Northern traitor- but a Northern traitor with a sun tan.

Recently a mate of mine Shawn died in horrible circumstances. I don't understand it, but there's not much I really want to say about it either- I don't know it just seems like I say should say something. So Rest In Peace mate.

I'm back innit! Shanghai was fun but I only had 2 days off the entire month I was there- so since being back in the UK of England I've  made up for lost time by sitting around the flat reading magazines and watching old Top Gear episodes.

Top Gear is a show about cars. Help me.

Four views of Shanghai

Well I'm in Shanghai this month, and this is pretty much the start of my new life out East.

When I moved back to England I had plans to stay until the start of 2007. But, yeah, plans change- I'll be coming here in August.

I had planned to do loads of stuff in the UK- and I'll probably still get to do it all, but now I'll have to plan the plans with military precision. Or at least write them down.

Anyway Shanghai, when I'm not at work, is crazy. So much more hectic than Seoul- people hassling you on the street to buy fake watches, dodgy massages and goofballs.
I need a new blog to cope with the overload of stuff I keep seeing, but will wait till I get a few films developed first.

Andy and Sharon

My brother and his girlfriend last Friday night (OK then, Saturday morning).

It's been great to see them but I had some bad news yesterday- they went to Poland on holiday and took one of my weird old film cameras. Turned out Andy hadn't wound the film onto the spool thing properly so the whole thing came out blank.

Unlucky folks, at least you'll always have the memories.

Brussel Sprouts

Carboot sales in England used to be all about buying second hand Hi-Fi equipment with wires poking out of the back and old Bunty annuals.

These days it just seems to be a big market with people buying meat and vegetables for their Sunday roast.

This then is apparently what Brussel Sprouts look like when they first come out of the ground. A lovely colour but they still taste like crap.

I bought some orange juice last week- 30p for 2 litres but it went out of date in October 2005.

After drinking a thimbleful I got scared and poured the rest down the sink.

The Empty Page

Since I still want to put photos online somewhere I'm going to do a few postcards from the UK.

It won't be as funny, frequent, popular or good as lostseouls.com. But that's just tough.
